The Report of the 5th Meeting of

ISA Technical Committee on Standardization (TCS5)

 

The 5th Meeting of the ISA Technical Committee on Standardization (TCS5) was held on Apr. 1st, 2014, in Frankfurt, Germany, which was attended by over 20 representatives from research initiatives, corporations, and organizations, including Cree, Fraunhofer IZM, Energy Foundation, CSA, Epistar, Bardsley Consulting, Sichuan Kexin, Guangdong SSL Innovation Center, Panasonic, Instrument Systems etc.

 

1. Review of TCS Recent Progress (TCS1-TCS4)

TCS Chair Mr. Mark McClear presented an overview on the TCS1-TCS4 progress, spanning over 2 years of development.

Since passing the Bylaws of TCS in TCS4 last November, the templates for ISA whitepapers/recommendations have been optimized.

2. Accelerating depreciation test method for LED lighting products

Prof. Guoqi Zhang from TUD and China SSL State Key Lab presented the overview on CSA proposed Accelerating depreciation test method for LED lighting products.

With TCS’s acknowledgement, Mark concluded that this recommendation has been passed as the 1.0 version and solicit more peer review from TCS members and beyond. This would be the first recommendation accepted and released from ISA TCS.

 

3. Module interface requirements for application of LED lighting Street tunnel light

Dr. Jun Ruan from CSA/CSAS introduced CSA’s other proposal for TCS review based on CSA016.

Mark suggested to collect more inputs from larger global community within and beyond ISA. Tele-conference will be arranged to consolidate contributing efforts and put this draft to a finalized version by this November.

4. Progress update from LED Recycling and full life cycle team

Dr. Max Marwede and Dr. Rafael Jordan from Fraunhofer IZM presented their recent EU project findings entitled CycLED program, to support the team efforts formerly joined by Kaneka, TNO and CSA.

Mark recommended that team-building for this recommendation team would include Kaneka, Fraunhofer IZM, CSA and TNO.

5. New Topics, New Direction - Health Oriented Lighting in Asia

Mr. Harry Noguchi from Panasonic presented a proposal to initialize the efforts addressing health-oriented lighting topic.

Mark recommended that team-building for a review paper would include Panasonic, Bardsley Consulting, Cree and CSA.

The TCS5 concluded at 17:30.
