The Report of the 6th Meeting of

ISA Technical Committee on Standardization (TCS6)


The 6th Meeting of the ISA Technical Committee on Standardization (TCS6) was held on Nov. 6th, 2014, in Guangzhou, China, which was attended by over 20 representatives from research initiatives, corporations, and organizations, including Cree, Kaneka, Philips, CSA, Epistar, Bardsley Consulting, CSA State Key Lab, China National Institute of Standardization, Panasonic, Osram, MFA, etc.

Mr. Mark McClear, TCS Chair chaired this meeting.

Item one: Reviewed of TCS Recent Progress (TCS1-TCS5)

Mr. McClear presented an overview on the TCS1-TCS5 progress, spanning over 2 and half years of development.

Item two: topics introduction and discussion

Topic 1: ISA Recommendation: “Interface Requirements for Application of LED Lighting: Street Light Consisting of LED Module with Heatsink and Separated Control Gear”

Dr. Stanley Leung from CSA State Key Lab (SKL), on behalf of Mr. Xiang Zhou, made the presentation.

Mr. Mark McClear announced that the ISA Recommendation: “Interface Requirements for Application of LED Lighting: Street Light Consisting of LED Module with Heatsink and Separated Control Gear” had been approved in TCS6, as the second ISA recommendation.

Topic 2: “Research Development of CycLEDProgram– Progress Update LED Recycling and Full Life Cycle”

Dr. Manabu Tsumura from KANEKA Corp. delivered the presentation.

Topic 3: “LED Road Lighting Products in Cold Region - Performance Requirements”

Mr. Money Chen from Epistar presented this topic.

Topic 4: “Research Development of Health Oriented Lighting in Asia”

Dr. Harry Noguchi from Panasonic presented this presentation.

Topic 5: “Research on the Index of Healthy and Comfortable Lighting”

Mr. Hong Xu from China National Institute of Standardization (CNIS) made the presentation on this topic, on behalf of Dr. Jianqi Cai.

Item 3: Summary of Output

The Chair Mr. Mark McClear on behalf of the meeting made the following conclusion:

1) ISA recommendation “Interface Requirements for Application of LED Lighting: Street Light Consisting of LED Module with Heatsink and Separated Control Gear” had been approved in TCS6;

2) the “Research Development of Cyc LED Program– Progress Update LED Recycling and Full Life Cycle” project should remain research stage and look for further support;

3) the working team of “LED Road Lighting Products in Cold Region - Performance Requirements” project was required to submit an updated report in TCS7;

4) the working team of “Research Development of Health Oriented Lighting in Asia” project was required submit an updated report in TCS7;

5) the working team of “Research on the Index of Healthy and Comfortable Lighting” project was required submit an updated report in TCS7;

6) Each team should achieve more cooperation leading by team leader after TCS6. The teleconference would be held in any necessary called by team leaders;

7) ISA TCS7 would be arranged in 2015.

 

Mr. Ruisheng Yue the secretary-general said that Mr. Mark McClear the Chairman of ISA TCS would expire his term of the Chairmanship and no longer to pursuit the second term because he had taken more responsibility in Cree and had no time to dedicate to the work of TCS Chairmanship. And that meant this was the last meeting that Mr. Mark McClear as the Chairman to Chair this TCS.

On behalf of the ISA President Madam Ling Wu as well the ISA, Mr. Yue expressed his gratitude to Mr. Mark McClear for his excellent leadership and outstanding contribution to the TCS work in last two and half years.

He pointed out that science the first TCS meeting on June 9, 2012 Mark had successfully chaired 6 TCS meetings and a number of teleconferences. Under his leadership the TCS adopted its By Law, developed and adopted two recommendations, a number of potential recommendations were under developed. The TCS had gained its momentum and impacts. The TCS recommendation had been welcomed by a number of countries and with the potentials to be used in the respective countries.

Mr. Yue, on behalf of the meeting again, wished all the best to Mr. Mark McClear for his future undertaken and looking forward to continually getting his guidance and advice.

Mr. Mark McClear, also the VP of Cree, responded Mr. Yue that he was happy to do this work with TCS colleagues and the Secretariat in the past few years. And he would continue his support to the ISA TCS in the future with his honor and pleasure.
