The Report of the 22nd Meeting of
ISA Technical Committee on Standardization (TCS22)
The 22nd Meeting of the ISA Technical Committee on Standardization (TCS22) was held in webinar on Nov. 30th, 2022.
Dr. Yoshi Ohno, ISA TCS Chair, past president of CIE, NIST Fellow, National Institute of Standard Technology (NIST), USA moderated the meeting. More than 40 standardization experts from China, Germany, Australia, Zambia, Malaysia, Russia etc. attended the meeting online, including Prof. Warren Julian, member of ISA COM, Mr. Alexander Karev, Dr. Anton Chernyakov, SHM R&E Center, RAS, Russia, Mr. Andreas Scholtz, past TCS Chair, Chair of IEC/TC 34 etc.
The meeting was divided into the following three parts:
1. The Report from the ISA TCS Secretariat
Dr. Crane YANG reported the works carried out by TCS in the past six months as well as the liaison status with the other international standardization bodies.
2. The Reports of the Working Groups
2.1 WG9 “Research in LED Lighting for Poultry Farm Application”
Prof. Jinming PAN made the working progress report.
2.2 WG10 “Technical Report of Control Protocols for LED Smart Home Lighting” (WG10) – to be released
The leader of WG10 Dr. Feng Huang from Signify delivered the presentation. The final draft of this standard had passed the TCS voting process, and received sufficient votes for adoption.
2.3 WG14 “Technical Report of Lighting System Architecture and Standard Overview” (WG14) – to be released
The leader of WG14 Dr. Feng Huang from Signify delivered the presentation. The final draft of this standard had passed the TCS voting process, and received sufficient votes for adoption.
2.4 WG15 “LED Lighting System for Classrooms - Product Requirements and Testing Methods” (WG15) – to be released
Ms. Lorna WEN on behalf of Prof. Jianqi CAI introduced this research progress. The final draft of this standard had passed the TCS voting process, and received sufficient votes for adoption.
2.5 WG18 “Technical Specifications for Solar Street Light with Lithium Battery”
Mr. Weidong CHEN on behalf Mr. Zhedong XIN made the working progress report.
2.6 WG19“Technical Requirement for LED Fish Gathering Lamp of Fishing Vessels”
Dr. Benliang LI made the working progress report.
2.7 WG20 “Technical Report on Sun-like LED Terms Definition and Related Issues”
Dr. Hua YANG made the working progress report.
2.8 WG21 project1 “Technical Report on LED mosquito light trap and Related Issues”
The WG leader Ms. Xu XU from Dayang Technology introduced this project on LED mosquito trapping application. The final draft of this standard had passed the TCS voting process, and received sufficient votes for adoption.
2.9 WG22 “Technical Requirements on UVA LED Module for Photocatalytic Technology” (WG draft)
Mr. Rongbin REN from Guangdong Yue Puritech Technology made the working progress report.
2.10 WG25 “Life Cycle Cost Analysis for LED Lighting Products”
Dr. Jiajie FAN from Fudan University made the working progress report.
2.11 WG26 “Technical Requirements for Light Health and Light Safety Application of Red Light”
Ms. Lorna WEN on behalf of Prof. Jianqi CAI made the working progress report.
Participants asked questions and discussed the progress report of the WGs. The Chair made detailed comments on each of the WG’s reports and asked questions. According to the report and discussion Dr. Yoshi Ohno made the requirements for each WGs on next step.
3. New Proposals
Three new proposals have been put forward i.e.
New Proposal 1 “Test method for performance of flexible light source in optical medical equipment”
New Proposal 2 “Light Emitting Diode Display Part X-X: Measuring methods of Optical performance”
New Proposal 3 “Smart Lighting Pole System”
After Q/A and discussions Dr. Yoshi Ohno made some comments respectively. The meeting decided that the 3 new proposals, after being revised, to make a report again at next TCS meeting.
Summary
Dr. Ohno, the Chair of ISA TCS, emphasized that ISA’s standardization work should be more international, encouraging existing working groups and requiring all new working groups established since TCS20 to include working group members from at least three countries, and hopefully more in the future.
The Chair announced that next meeting (TCS23) would be held in May 2023. The final decision would be made by the ISA/TCS management. The form and venue of the meeting would depend on the development of the epidemic.
Details of the meeting and related decisions would be submitted to the TCS members in the form of minutes, which would be reviewed and adopted by the Chair. Presentations would also be distributed by the TCS Secretariat after the meeting.
The meeting was adjourned at 22:40.
