The Report of the 18th Meeting of

ISA Technical Committee on Standardization (TCS18)

 

The 18th Meeting of ISA Technical Committee on Standardization (TCS18) was held in the form of webinar on Nov. 4^th, 2020.

Mr. Andreas SCHOLTZ, the Chair of ISA TCS, from Osram and who is also the Chair of IEC TC34, moderated this meeting.

The member of ISA COM, Prof. Warren Julian, the member of ISA BOA, Dr. Yoshi Ohno, and more than 30 experts from Australia, US, Germany, Belarus and China attended the meeting.

The meeting was divided into the following three parts:

1.Report from the ISA TCS Secretariat

Dr. Crane YANG reported the works carried out by TCS in the past six months as well as the liaison status with the other international standardization bodies such as ISO and CIE.

2. Working progress reports of ISA TCS

2.1 WG9: “Research in LED Lighting for Poultry Farm Application”, introduced by Prof. Jinming PAN from Zhejiang University.

2.2 WG10: “Technical Report of Control Protocols for LED Smart Home Lighting”, introduced by Mr. Hao XU from CSA, member of WG14, on behalf of Dr. Feng Huang from Signify.

2.3 WG14: “Technical Report of Lighting System Architecture and Standard Overview”, introduced by Mr. Hao XU from CSA, member of WG14, on behalf of Dr. Feng HUANG from Signify.

2.4 WG15: “LED Lighting System for Classrooms - Product Requirements and Testing Methods”, introduced by Ms. Lorna WEN from CNIS.

2.5 WG17: “Requirements for On-site Assembly and Commissioning of Multifunctional Street Lamp’s Functional Modules”, introduced by Ms. Zexi HUANG from Unilumin.

2.6 WG18: “Technical Specifications for Solar Street Light with Lithium Battery”, introduced by Mr. Weidong CHEN from Longvolt Energy.

2.7 WG19: “Technical Requirement for LED Fish Gathering Lamp of Fishing Vessels”, introduced by Dr. Benliang LI from Dongguan Quality Testing.

2.8 WG20: “Technical Report on Sun-like LED Terms Definition and Related Issues”, introduced by Dr. Hua YANG from Institute of Semiconductors, Chinese Academy of Sciences.

Aforementioned progress reports of the Working Groups were questioned and discussed. The Chair made detailed comments on the reports of each working group. The Chair based on the discussions and relevant work carried out by existing international standards organizations, set out the requirements for the work of the Working group on their next step.

3. New proposals

There were 2 new proposals in this TCS meeting:

“Technical Report on LED Mosquito Trapping Technology and Related Issues” &

“Technical specification on indoor ultraviolet LED mosquito light trap”

Mr. Andreas SCHOLTZ, the Chair of ISA TCS reviewed the above 2 new proposals, believed that these 2 proposals met the principles and conditions of TCS project approval and approved the establishment of a new working group. The working progress report is required at next TCS meeting.

Since this is the last TCS meeting hosted by Mr. Andreas Scholtz as the ISA TCS Chair, the TCS members expressed their gratitude to Mr. Scholtz for his great contribution to the TCS and excellent leadership to guide this organization in the past few years.

Suggested by Mr. Scholtz, the next meeting (TCS19) would be held on May 5th, 12th or 19th, 2021. The final decision would be made by the ISA/TCS management together with the new chair.

The TCS18 meeting minutes would be drafted by the secretariat of TCS including the contents and the related resolutions of this meeting. The minutes would be sent to the Chair of TCS for his approval and the minutes would be then sent to all TCS members.
