The Report of the 26th Meeting of
ISA Technical Committee on Standardization (TCS26)
The 26th Meeting of the ISA Technical Committee on Standardization (TCS26) was held in a hybrid form on Nov. 19, 2024, at G Hall, Suzhou International Expo Center, Suzhou, China.
Dr. Yoshi Ohno, ISA TCS Chair, past president of CIE, NIST Fellow, National Institute of Standard Technology (NIST), USA moderated the meeting. Nearly 20 standardization experts attended the meeting online and offline.
The meeting was divided into the following two parts:
1. The Report from the ISA TCS Secretariat
ISA TCS Secretariat reported meeting on the work in the past six months by reviewing TCS25, the following ups of TCS25 and the cooperation with international standardization organizations.
2. The Reports of the Working Groups
2.1 WG17: Requirements for On-site Assembly and Commissioning of Multifunctional Smart Pole Functional Modules
The leader of WG17, Mr. Yuchen LI from Unilumin Group made the working progress report by video recording (have been approved after voting).
2.2 WG19: Technical Requirement for LED Fish Gathering Lamp of Fishing Vessels
The leader of WG19, Dr. Benliang Li introduced the working progress since last TCS meeting (have been approved after voting).
2.3 WG18: Technical Specifications for Solar Street Light with Lithium Battery
Mr. Weidong Chen on behalf of the leader of WG18, Mr. Zhedong XIN, from Longvolt Energy made the working progress report. He introduced the working progress since last TCS meeting.
2.4 WG20: Technical Report on Sun-like LED Terms Definition and Related Issues
Dr. Hua Yang from Institute of Semiconductors, CAS, reported the working progress by video recording since the last TCS meeting. He reviewed the background and objective, etc.
2.5 WG22: Technical Requirements on UVA LED Module for Photocatalytic Technology
Mr. Hao Zhang from Zhongke YUE Puritech (Shandong) reported the working progress by video recording since the last TCS meeting.
2.6 WG25: Life Cycle Cost Analysis for LED Lighting Products
Dr. Mesfin on behalf of Dr. Jiajie Fan from Fudan University made the working progress report by video recording.
2.7 WG26: Technical Requirements for Light Health and Light Safety Application of Red Light
Ms. Lorna Wen on behalf of Prof. Jianqi Cai, made the working progress report. She introduced the Photobiological effects, etc. She said the 1st draft had been finished except for the conclusion part.
2.8 WG27: Test Method for Performance of Flexible Light Source in Optical Medical Equipment
Ms. Qianqian Yu from Yeolight made the working progress report by video recording. She introduced the contents, goals, timeline, problems and the appendix.
2.9 WG29: Technical Standard for Smart Lighting Pole
Ms. Shenghao (Sandy) Xu on behalf of Mr. Honggang WU from China Tower Corporation Zhejiang Branch made the working progress report by video recording.
2.10 WG30: Recommendation “Performance Requirements on LED Mosquito Repellent Light
Ms. Xu XU from Dayang Technology introduced the research background, basic information of WG, contents and relevant standards, etc.
Participants asked questions and discussed the progress report of the Working Groups. The Chair made detailed comments on each of the WG’s reports and asked questions. According to the discussion and the relevant work carried out by the existing international standards organizations, the requirements for the next work content and progress of the WG were put forward, which including that the Chair would directly contact the leaders of the relevant working groups to comment the documents they led, and conduct the final review of the group leaders’ draft documents.
The meeting agreed amongst others
-Invite TCS members to check their respective information and make comments on the “ISA TCS Workbook” (printed draft (first draft)). The Secretariat would submit the English version of the revised workbook to the TCS Chair for check and approval. This workbook would finally be printed and distributed in English and Chinese.
- The Secretariat was required to take an inventory of verification and calibration of current WG number. in case of any confusion.
- The Secretariat would consider to contacts the President of CIE Division VI and explore the possibility of further cooperation with CIE.
The Chair reiterated that the working groups to submitting relevant documents using the new Working Group Progress Report Template and ISA Recommendation/Technical Report Template to improve the standardization and consistency of TCS documents.
The Chair announce that the next meeting (TCS27) would be held in May 14-16, 2025 in Thailand with the support of Thai Illuminating Engineering Association (TIEA).
Details of the meeting and related decisions would be submitted to the TCS members in the form of minutes (in English), which would be reviewed and adopted by the Chair. Presentations would also be distributed by the TCS Secretariat after the meeting, as required by TCS members and participants.
The meeting was adjourned at 18:00 (Beijing time).
