" ISA - EPIC Online Technology Meeting on Photonics for Light Therapy and Aesthetics Applications" was held online on February 28, 2023. The conference was co-organized by the International SSL Alliance (ISA) and the European Optoelectronics Industry Association (EPIC).

 

More than 20 companies and research institutes and universities from more than 10 countries around the world, such as China, the United Kingdom, Germany, the Netherlands, Switzerland, Belgium, Israel, Russia, Belarus, Brazil, the United States, Australia, Thailand, Malaysia and nearly 50 representatives attended the meeting. The meeting was co-chaired by Dr. Daxi Xiong, President and CEO of Suzhou KECH Semiconductor Technology Co., LTD., and Dr. Jeremy Picot-Clemente, Head of Optoelectronic Technology at EPIC.

 

Dr. Jeremy Picot-Clemente gave a brief introduction to the EPIC. EPIC is the world's leading industry association promoting the sustainable development of the optoelectronics sector in Europe. EPIC represents more than 800 European companies manufacturing optoelectronic components and products, including optical components, fibers, diodes, lasers, sensors, production equipment, materials and software. EPIC strives to foster a vibrant optoelectronic ecosystem by maintaining a strong network and acting as a catalyst and enabler of technological and commercial advancements.

 

Dr. Xiong Daxi expressed his pleasure to be commissioned by the ISA to co-chair today's meeting with Mr. Jeremy Picot-Clemente. He talked about light health and light medicine has been a hot spot of technology research and development and application innovation in recent years. New optical medical devices and innovative technologies were constantly appearing on the market. The study of the effect of light energy and human health at a more microscopic and precise level, and the exploration and application of different light formulations on human cells, nerves, vision, skin and other aspects of intervention were signs that light health and light medicine had entered a new stage. He believed that optical medicine also had its own industrial chain, from materials, modules, to optical formulation design, to equipment applications and clinical trials, and finally to provide services to patients, is a system engineering. The formation of a mature optical medical industry chain required the cooperation of all aspects of research and development, manufacturing, clinical and market, and the persistence and efforts of experts from all aspects, exchanges and inspiration. Dr. Xiong Daxi said it was necessary for ISA and EPIC to organize such a meeting. If this kind of meeting can be adhered to as a mechanism, I believed it can promote the maturity of the global optical medical industry chain as soon as possible, and further promoted the development of global optical medical.

 

Dr. Wilfried Noel, R&D Director of SUSS MicroOptics in Switzerland, Professor Yang Sihua, Deputy Director of the Institute of Biophotonics at South China Normal University, and Omer Nessing, Application engineer at Holo/Or in Israel Mr. LAN Wei, Chairman of Hebei Otwili Medical Device Co., LTD., Mr. Persephone, product development engineer of British PowerPhotonic Company Dr. Poulton; Dr. 邓剡梁, PhD Researcher, Delft University of Technology, the Netherlands; Dr. Li Zichun, PhD Researcher, Delft University of Technology, the Netherlands; Patrick Risch, Glassomer, Germany Mr. Dong Jianfei, Researcher of Suzhou Institute of Biomedical Engineering and Technology, Chinese Academy of Sciences, and nine other experts made speeches on the latest progress and achievements in their respective fields. It also shared the research and development innovation and application of micro-optics equipment manufacturing, photoacoustic imaging, diffractive optical components, multi-band spectral combination in clinical medicine, beam shaper, light-driven polymer driver, injection molding of fused silicon glass for lighting optics, blue light anti-microbial infection treatment and other optomedical and phototherapy beauty technologies and products.

Participants actively interacted with the speaker by asking questions. The hot issues of phototherapy and phototherapy cosmetology are discussed. The three companies at the meeting expressed their desire for future cooperation.

 

At the conclusion of the conference, the ISA Secretariat, acting as the organizer, thanked the two co-facilitators and the nine guest speakers. He found today's meeting informative and beneficial. It is hoped that the conference will help each participant's research and development efforts and create new business opportunities. He said both ISA and EPIC are willing to help with future collaborations.
