On May 16th and 17th of 2019, the Secretariat of ISA organized the participants (hereinafter referred to as the ISA delegation) of TCS15 (the 15th Meeting of ISA Technical Committee on Standardization) to visit Itramas Corporation, Osram Malaysia, Standards and Industrial Research Institute of Malaysia (SIRIM), QAV (Quality Assurance Verification) Technologies, Institute of Nano Optoelectronics Research and Technology (INOR) of University Sains Malaysia. The purpose of these visits is to promote understanding, establish contacts, build platforms and explore cooperation among the delegates and the visited organizations The delegation consisted of representatives of ISA members, such as China Solid State Lighting Alliance (CSA), Lumileds, Unilumin, Hpwinner, Rangdong Lighting (Vietnam) and nonmembers Light Talk, Lumigro, Longvolt Energy, and Collaborative Research in Engineering, Science and Technology of Malaysia (CREST), the support organization of TCS15.
Visited Itramas Corporation
In the morning of May 16th, local time, more than 20 members of the ISA delegation visited Itramas. Itramas is one of the largest LED manufacturing companies in Malaysia, mainly producing LED street lights, traffic lights and solar power stations. Itramas has extensive experience in renewable energy, energy efficiency, electronics manufacturing and smart cities. Itramas is an influential manufacturer of solid state lighting in Malaysia.
Visited Osram Malaysia
In the afternoon of May 16th, the ISA delegation visited the factory of Osram Malaysia in Kulim. The main business of the factory includes producing 6-inch wafer, chip production for blue and white LEDs, LEDs assembly and test. The company has 1450 employees. The head of the factory delivered the welcome address. R&D personnel of the factory introduced the product features and manufacturing process through slides and video clips, and organized the ISA delegation members to walk around some sites of the factory.
Visited SIRIM
In the afternoon of May 16th, the ISA delegation visited SIRIM. The standard technology organization of SIRIM is known as SIRIM STS (Standard Technology) focuses on standards,
technology consulting and training. The Quality Assurance organization of SIRIM is known as SIRIM QAS (Quality Assurance Standard) focus on certification and testing. SIRIM QAS is the only certification authority in Malaysia. Any factory or company may apply to SIRIM QAS for review and approval in accordance with the recognized standards and procedures under the product certification system.
Visited QAV Technologies
In the morning of May 17th, local time, more than 10 members of the ISA delegation visited QAV Technologies. QAV Technologies has been recognized by Environment Protection Act of United States of America. It is duly certified ISO 17025 by Standard Malaysia, TUV Taiwan, TUV Korea and ANSI (American National Standard Institute) for lightings, automotive, medical and semiconductor industries. QAV can provide photometric and performance test for LED module and luminaires as well as LED safety test.
Visited INOR
In the morning of May 17th, local time, the ISA delegation visited INOR of University Sains Malaysia. INOR laboratory has been considered to be the most modern and innovative research laboratory on optoelectronic and nanotechnology in University Sains Malaysia. Malaysia has two MOCVD devices, one of which is located in the laboratory. The research areas of the laboratory include OLED, fabrication, characterization, and simulation/design of optoelectronic and electronic devices such as LEDs and sensors based on III-nitrides and other semiconductor materials. Taking the advantage of ISA TCS15 and aforementioned visits the representatives held talks, corridor meetings according to their respective business needs. And some of them also visited their business partner or clients in Penang and Kulim.
