At the invitation of Vietnam Lighting Association (VLA), the delegation of ISA Secretariat visited VLA and Rang Dong Company of Vietnam from 3-7 July 2018.

The two sides discussed the potential cooperation on ISA recommendation, agriculture lighting and smart lighting.

 

a.       Cooperation with the ISA TCS Working Group 4 (WG4)

The team leader of the ISA TCS WG4, Mr. Jianqi Cai introduced the development process, principle and application of “Human Factor Testing on the Index of Healthy and Comfortable Lighting-Test method and technical requirements based on physiological function of human eyes” at the meeting.

 

Mr. Nguyen Doan Thang, the permanent Vice President of the Vietnam Lighting Association and the General Manager of Rang Dong Company of Vietnam expressed his willingness to cooperate with ISA TCS WG4 on their standard. The two sides decided to carry out the pilot projects in one junior high school and one primary school in Hanoi and will compare the illumination results of existing fluorescent lamps and the lighting products developed on the basis of the standard of ISA TCS WG4. The field visit to a local school of Vietnam was arranged after the meeting.

b.      Cooperation with Vietnam on agricultural lighting

Dr. Wei Gao, the member of the ISA delegation and the Chief of the CSA Standardization Committee introduced the application of SSL in agriculture and Jiang Jinsong, general manager of Hangzhou Lang Tuo, introduced the application and latest progress of SSL in poultry farming at the meeting.

 

The officials of Vietnam Farmers Committee, Aquaculture Department of the Vietnam Ministry of Agriculture of Vietnam, Planting Department of the Ministry of Agriculture of Vietnam, and Poultry Environmental Department of the Ministry of Agriculture of Vietnam and other experts attended the meeting. They put forward cooperative demand in plant of dragon fruit, netted melon, strawberry, lily and herbs.

 

 

Regarding the farming, Vietnam side emphasized that the lighting is very important to the chicken’s safety and the quality of chicken meat. In view of the maturity of technology and product of lighting used in chicken house in China. They wished to carry out a pilot project in Vietnam. ISA suggested that they should give the priority to chicken farm, plant of dragon fruit, netted melon, hydroponic vegetable, seedling raising and insect repellent, in consideration of the work and market needs that have been carried out in Vietnam. At the same time, ISA hoped Vietnam side to consider the source of funding and balance the interests of all parties.

 

c.       Cooperation with Vietnam in Smart Lighting

The Vietnam Automation Association, the Vietnam Association of Electrical Engineers, the Vietnam Lighting Association, the Vietnam Energy-Saving Technology Association, and the Vietnamese Effective Energy Conservation Association attended the meeting.

 

Dr. He Yang, the Executive Secretary of ISA introduced the current development of the smart lighting at the meeting. The Vietnam side introduced the situation of construction of the smart city in Vietnam. The five associations would like to select 2-3 types of cities with lower complexity to carry out the pilot project on smart lighting and wished to be the lead of the project.. They will select public lighting and building lighting as a breakthrough.

 

ISA will help Vietnam to choose the appropriate partners on this pilot project, based on the information further provided by Vietnam side. ISA TCS will provide assistance and recommendations on the aspect of standard to Vietnam in accordance with the actual needs of smart lighting in Vietnam.
