Visiting Abilux,Abilumi,CTI and Inmetro , Sao Paulo, Rio de Janeiro of Brazil

The delegation of ISA paid a visit to Brazilian Association of Lighting Industry (Abilux), Brazilian Association of the Lighting Products Importers (Abilumi) and the Center of Information Technology (CTI) of Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation (MITI), Brazil on April 23rd and 24th, 2018 of Brazilian local time. The delegation of ISA consisted mainly of representatives from ISA members (China Solid State Lighting Alliance (CSA), Institute of Semiconductors, Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS), American Bardsley Consulting) and Non-ISA members (Hangzhou Langtuo Biotechnology Co., Ltd., Zhejiang University, Nanjing University, Nanchang University, etc.)

 

1.    Visiting in Brazilian Association of Lighting Industry (Abilux)

The delegation of ISA visited Abilux in the morning of April 23rd, and had a meeting with Coukeper Victorello, the Vice President of Abilux, Leoncio Cardoso Neto, the Secretary General of Abilux, Marco Martins Poli, the Administrative Director of Abilux, Isac Roizenblatt, the Technical Director of Abilux, and one member of Council of Management of Abilux.

The two sides reached the following cooperation intention:

1) Abilux would like to sign a package MOU of cooperation with ISA, including standard communication and recommendation (especially the accelerated test method), product testing, industry information sharing, jointly organizing the International SSL Forum in Brazil during the ExpoLux on a regular basis, etc.

2) Abilux would discuss Abilux joining ISA as a full member;

3) The ISA Secretariat would like to consider recommending a representative from Abilux to join in the ISA Borad of Advisors (BoA), and Abilux would recommend Mr. Isac Roizenblatt, theTechnical Director, to take this position;

4) ISA invited Abilux representatives to participate in the annual work meeting "BRICS SSL Cooperation Working Group" organized by the ISA secretariat in 2018, that is the Fifth Meeting of BRICS SSL Cooperation Working Group;

5) Abilux invited ISA, together with Abilumi, the Brazilian National Institute of Metrology, Quality and Technology (Inmetro) to work on specific measures, to contribute the improvement of the quality of Brazilian SSL products.

 

2.    Visiting in Brazilian Association of the Lighting Products Importers (Abilumi)

The delegation of ISA visited Abilumi in the morning of April 24th, and had a meeting with Mr. Georges Blum, the Vice President of Abilumi, Mr. Arthur Grellet, the Technical Director of Abilumi, Mr. Rafael Schreiber, the Industrial Director of Abilumi, Alfredo Bomilcar Filho, the General Counsel of Abilumi, and other members of Board of Directors of Abilumi.

The two sides reached the following cooperation intention:

1) Abilumi would further strengthen the cooperation with ISA in the area of information sharing of lighting products and the sampling reports on market products quality

2) Abilumi invited ISA to participate in the Quality Improvement Plan of Brazilian SSLProducts, and to jointly carry out the disclosure of the quality information of SSL products and the construction of Credit System of Corporations.

3) ISA invited Abilumi representatives to participate in the annual work meeting "BRICS SSL Cooperation Working Group" organized by the ISA secretariat in 2018, that is the Fifth Meeting of BRICS SSL Cooperation Working Group;

4) Abilumi would continue to support and co-host the ISA-Brazil International SSL Forum with ISA in the future.

 

3.    Visiting in the Center of Information Technology (CTI) of Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation (MITI), Brazil

 

The delegation of ISA visited CTI in the afternoon of April 24th, and had a meeting with Victor Mammana, the Director of CTI, Silvio Spinella, the General Coordinator for External Affairs of CTI, Claudio Ballande Romanelli, the head of the laboratory of CTI, Mr. Thebano Santos, the General Coordinator of CTI, and other Research Directors of CTI.

 The two sides reached the following cooperation intention:

1) CTI was willing to participate in the China-Brazil international cooperation projects, and hoped to take this opportunity to enhance theBrazilian R&D and innovation cooperation level in the field of SSL;

2) CTI would like to continue to participate in the annual work meeting "BRICS SSL Cooperation Working Group" organized by the ISA secretariat in 2018;

3) CTI welcomed Chinese research institutes and technology enterprises to station in the Science and Technology Parks of CTI to carry out R&D cooperation;

4) CTI expected to cooperate with China in the fields of SSL, software development, information system integration and natural disaster warning, etc.

 

The Second “ISA-Brazil International SSL Forum -- The Raising of Beyond Lighting” will be held on April 26th, 2018 of Brazilian local time during the Expolux 2018, which is organized by ISA, Brazilian Association of Lighting Industry (Abilux), and Brazilian Association of the Lighting Products Importers (Abilumi). Representatives from the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation (MITI), Brazil, Ministry of Industry, Brazil, Brazilian National Institute of Metrology, Quality and Technology (Inmetro), the Center of Information Technology (CTI), MITI, and the Municipal Administration Departments of local governments in Brazil will attend the Forum and make speeches.


4.  Visiting Brazilian National Institute of Metrology, Quality and Technology (Inmetro)

 

The delegation of ISA paid a visit to Brazilian National Institute of Metrology, Quality and Technology (Inmetro) in the afternoon on April 27th, 2018 of Brazilian local time, in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, and had a meeting with Mr. Jose Vinge, the Deputy Director General of the Department of International Cooperation, Inmetro, Mr. Leonardo Alves from the Division of International Technology Cooperation of Department of International Cooperation, Inmetro, and other staff from Inmetro. The two sides had a discussion on the cooperation of SSL standard, testing, and certification, etc., and reached a preliminary consensus on multiple cooperation intentions.

The delegation of ISA consisted mainly of representatives from ISA members (China Solid State Lighting Alliance (CSA), Institute of Semiconductors, Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS)) and Non-ISA members (Zhejiang University, Nanjing University, Nanchang University, etc.).

 

ISA representative introduced ISA, including the vision and mission of ISA, the work done by ISA and its Technical Committee on Standardization (TCS).

 

Mr. Jose Vinge expressed his warm welcome to the delegation of ISA, and appreciated the outstanding achievements of ISA achieved in the work of SSL standardization. He hoped that ISA could be with Inmetro, through full cooperation, to jointly promote and strengthen the transformation of Brazilian SSL industry and the improvement of SSL products quality, and to jointly promote the wide application of SSL technology in Brazil.

 

The two sides would jointly design a series of cooperation projects in the later stage and draft relevant cooperation MOUs. Inmetro would coordinate the stakeholders, such as Brazilian Technical Standards Association (ABNT), Brazilian Association of Lighting Industry (Abilux), and Brazilian Association of the Lighting Products Importers (Abilumi), Brazilian testing laboratory agency (IPEM), etc., to carry out close cooperation with ISA, to gradually strengthen the supervision of SSL products market in Brazil, strictly control the quality of SSL products, and establish the Credit Management System of manufacturers and importers in a planned way.

 

The two sides also planned to set up a SSL Joint Innovation Center, in which the work such as SSL technology R&D, technology transfer, training, standard R&D, testing, etc. would be carried out.

 

At the end of the meeting, ISA invited Inmetro to continue to participate in the fifth meeting of "BRICS SSL Cooperation Working Group" hosted by ISA in China this year.
