“ISA-Brazil International SSL Forum -- The Raising of Beyond Lighting” was held on April 26th, 2018 of Brazilian local time, at Expo Center Norte in Sao Paulo, Brazil. This Forum was the second time that ISA held such event during Expolux. The Forum was jointly organized by International SSL Alliance (ISA), Brazilian Association of Lighting Industry (Abilux), and Brazilian Association of the Lighting Products Importers (Abilumi).About 60 governmental and SSL industrial representatives from China, Brazil, America, Argentina, etc. attended this forum. Representatives from the Ministry of Science, Technology, Innovation and Communication (MCTIC), the Ministry of Industry of Brazil, Brazilian National Institute of Metrology, Quality and Technology (Inmetro), the Center of Information Technology (CTI), Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation (MITI), and the Municipal Administration Departments of local governments in Brazil made speeches respectively.
Prof. Jinmin Li, the member of ISA Board of Advisors, Former Director of Institute of Semiconductor, China Academic of Science (CAS), Executive Chairman (R&D) of China SSL Alliance, Mr. Claudio Ballande Romanelli from CTI, Mr. Isac Roizenblatt, the Technical Director of Abilux, and Mr. Georges Blum, the Vice President of Abilumi delivered their welcome remarks respectively.
Prof. Li introduced that in the past two years, we did feel the fast development of LED industry, its applications which penetrating so many aspects of our life, such as the application in health care, horticulture, poultry form, protect eyesight, visible lighting communication, purify drink water etc. One of the highlights of LED application among above over the past two year was smart lighting.
More and more functions converged on the lamp or lamp posts, through the sensors to gather the data on safety, environmental parameters, road conditions, meteorological data, emergency call, advertisement, electricity charging for electrical vehicles. Actually more than 10 functions could be converged on the lamp or lamp posts.
Internet of Things (IoT), big data collection based on aforementioned smart lighting had not only brought people more convenience, welfare but also ushered governments to a new era of urban management, which helped all of us to truly approach the gateway of smart city.
At last, he believed that understanding the international development trend and the whole scenario would help to enlarge our visions, speed up the deployment of LED, formulate our policies and make our decisions, and he wished the Forum a success.
Dr. Guilherme de Paula Correa from the Secretariat of Digital Policies, MCTIC, gave a keynote speech on “National Internet of Things Program of Brazil”. He introduced the plan of the international information construction and policy trend of Brazilian government for the future to 2025, and the government of Brazil had fully realized the role of smart lighting playing in smart cities.
Prof. Li, as the Executive Chairman (R&D) of China SSL Alliance, gave a presentation on “The Overview of Strategy, Policy and Development of Solid State Lighting Industry in China”. He pointed out that solid state lighting (SSL) was a great progress in lighting industry, and introduced the importance of SSL for China, the development of Chinese SSL, multiple ministries policies for SSL, key technologies breakthrough, some excellent SSL showcases, the main targets of China LED industry, and suggestion etc.
Mr. Isac Roizenblatt, the Technical Director of Abilux, gave a presentation on “LED Lighting in Brazil”.
The representative fromHuawei Technology (China), gave a presentation on “Edge Computing: Combination with Smart Lighting”.
Georges Blum, the Vice President of Abilumi, gave a presentation on “LED Lamps Certification in Brazil”.
Dr. Jianli ZHANG, Assistant Professor of Nanchang University, gave a presentation on “Breakthrough in Green and Yellow LED with innovative applications”.
Dr. Norman Bardsley, Chief Analyst of ISA Research, and the President of Bardsley Consulting (USA), gave a presentation on “The SSL Global Market and Trends”.
Mr. Jason JIANG, the General Manager of Light Talk Ltd. (China), gave a presentation on “Successful Practice of LED Lighting in Poultry Farmers”.
Mr. Uira Kayano Nobrega, the CEO of Branch Office Brazil, HPWINNER (China), gave a presentation on “Smart lighting and LED module technology”.
Mr. Gene King, the Director of International Business Development of Inventronics (China), gave a presentation on “Smart LED Power Supply Solutions”.
Ms. Jing Qiu from the Zhejiang Fonda Technology (China), gave a presentation on “Smart Lighting, Gateway to Smarter City”.
Dr. Norman Bardsley, as the representative of the organizers, gave a summary speech for the Forum.
A welcome cocktail reception was held after the Forum at the evening by ISA. Some members of the Board of Directors, the Council of Management and some major enterprise members of Abilux and Abilumi, some representatives from Chinese lighting enterprises and Chinese lighting enterprises in Brazil, nearly 80 people joined the reception. Both the governmental and SSL industrial representatives from China and Brazil expressed that they would like to further strengthen the cooperation between China and Brazil in SSL, especially in beyond lighting, strengthen the cooperation in SSL standard testing and certification; Strengthen the industrial information sharing and the import and export information comparison; and conduct the research and development cooperation in generic technologies, etc.
