Global SSL Award of Industry Development Outstanding Contribution

Terms of Reference & Rules of Procedure


The Terms of Reference (TOR) and Rules of Procedure (ROP) for International SSL Alliance (ISA) “Global SSL Award of Industry Development Outstanding Contribution” (IDOC) are listed as below.

Purpose and Significance

The award was established as decided by the ISA 12th Executive Member Meeting, which aims to promote the global SSL sustainable development by recognizing the industry organizations, project teams, industry leaders, institutions, etc. that have made outstanding contributions to the SSL development at regional/global levels within a certain time or historical period.

 

Qualification of the application

Industry organizations, project teams, industry leaders, institutions, etc. in the field of SSL who meet above criteria are all qualified to apply.

The application content which has won another ISA award before is not qualified to apply this award.

Criteria for Selection

Within a certain time or historical period, those who have made outstanding contributions at the regional or global level and have greater influence in R&D of SSL technology, products, SSL application, standard development, and lead the developments of the SSL industry etc.

 

Frequency and quantity of selection

This award is given annually and no more than 5 winners per year in principle.  Otherwise, it will be decided by ISA Executive Member Meeting in case of any special needs. The ISA Executive Member Meeting reserves the right not to make an award in any year.

 

Application

Applicants must be recommended (in the form of letters of recommendation) by two well-known experts or organizations in the SSL industry. The application forms for the "Outstanding Contribution to the Development of the Global Semiconductor Lighting Industry" should be completed by the applicants.

Selection Process and Time Nodes

1. In early March: Issues the“Call for Application on Global SSL Award of Industry Development Outstanding Contribution”.

2. In middle June:“Call for the Applications on Global SSL Award of Industry Development Outstanding Contribution” applications deadline.

3. In late June: Applications’preliminary screening 

4. From July to August: Juries review and give score to each application.

5. In early September: Collect the Juries’evaluation and reports to the ISA Executive Member Meeting.

6. In middle September: Final decision of the winners will be made by ISA Executive Member Meeting.

7. In late September: Complete the Preparation to award the winners (brochure, medals and certificates).

8. In October or November: The Award Ceremony of “Award of Global SSL Award of Industry Development Outstanding Contribution”will be held during ISA General Assembly or any other appropriate occasion, and the medals and certificates will be delivered to the winners by ISA Executive Member Meeting. The results of “Global SSL Award of Industry Development Outstanding Contribution” will be published and publicized through ISA global network and other media.

 

Establishment of the Jury Panel

1. ISA Secretariat collects the application forms and submits it to the Jury Panel after the preliminary screen.

2. The Jury Panel consists of 9 renowned international experts from the field of SSL research, developing and manufacturing, etc. Each jury will give the evaluation to the applications according to the Terms of Reference & Rules of Procedure of this award.

 

Review Guidelines

1. Applications will be judged according to the selection criteria.

2. The full score for each application is 10, and the juries can give the score from 1 to 10 to each application. 

3. Any jury with a conflict of interest regarding any one (or more) application (s) which he or she is to judge shall comply with the principle of avoidance.

 

Submission Requirements

1. Each application form must be filled up completely. All supplementary materials must be submitted together with the application form.

2. The application should include: name, contact details, brief introduction (Maximum 500 words) and detailed description of his/her contributions (Maximum 1200 words), as well as full supporting documents (such as photos, letters of recommendation, certificates, etc.).

3. The application form should be sent to ISA Secretariat in word format via email before the deadline for preliminary screening. The photos attached to the application should be sent separately.

 

Copyright and Others

1. The winners agree to authorize ISA to publish the contents of the application for non-profit purposes.

2. The applicants confirm that all the contents and data provided in the application are genuine and real, and ISA will cancel the award if the applicant intentionally submits fake and/or false documents/data in this application.

3. ISA will not be liable for the contents of the application, any problems, rights and disputes involved.

4. If the project is awarded, the applicant shall pay the cost of the medals related the award.
