The BRICS Smart Lighting Industry Summit and the11th Meeting of BRICS SSL Collaboration Working Group (BRICSSSL-WG) was held from 17-19 July in Shenzhen, China. The meeting was organized by the Secretariat of BRICS SSL-WG (the Secretariat of ISA), supported by Sparklink Alliance and Shenzhen Comentropy Industry and Standard innovation Service Center, sponsored by EXC-LED, Unilumin, LEDVANCE, EVERFINE, Fudan University, Inventroincs, JH Lighting, Tuya smart and Sansi LED. The meeting was convened in the form of hybrid.

10 delegates from R&D institutes and SSL industries of BRICS countries (Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa) participated in the meeting.

Other 6 delegates from “BRICS+” countries i.e. Thailand, Vietnam, Belarus and an invited experts on standardization of IEA 4e and IEEE Smart lighting Initiative also participated in the meeting.

About 60 people from SSL smart lighting industry participated in the onsite meeting.

Totally more than 100 people attended the meeting in the form of offline and online.

Ms. Pei LI, Director of International Organizations and Multilateral Cooperation Division, International Cooperation Department, Ministry of Science and Technology of China (MOST) delivered welcome remarks at opening session of the meeting.

Dr. Jianlin CAO, The President of ISA and former vice minister of MOST delivered his welcome remarks at opening session of the meeting.

 Ms. Olga Grekova, General Director of the APSS of Russia passed on her best wishes to the meeting at opening session of the meeting.

The first session on 17 July focused on smart lighting, new wireless short-range communication, market trends and development status of SSL industry in BRICS and BRICS “+” countries.

The second session in the morning of 18 July focused on “Smart lighting”, 8 experts shared their latest findings, achievements and application scenarios related to smart lighting system on road lighting, DALI lighting systems, mobile solar products, the total solution for smart roadway lighting, innovative applications of smart lighting systems, and overview of the development of the smart pole industry in China etc.

The third session in the afternoon of 17 July focused on SSL international standardization of BRICS and BRICS “+” countries.

Mr. Ilya Efimov, from APSS of Russia chaired the opening session and first session as the Chairman of the meeting. (Russia is the host country for BRICS Summit in the year 2024). The second and third session were chaired by the Secretariat of BRICS SSLWG.

The delegates from BRICS and BRICS “+” countries visited EXC-LED and Unilumin on 19 July.
